Jörn Dege (*1982 in Bad Saulgau) has been managing director of the German Creative Writing Program (Deutsches Literaturinstitut) in Leipzig since 2014. He studied mathematics, philosophy and literary writing. In 2010 he received a scholarship for the Klagenfurt Literaturkurs. Together with Mathias Zeiske he published the literary magazine Edit and the book series Volte at Spector Books. Since 2019 he has been part of the team at the literary festival “Literarischer Herbst” in Leipzig. He leads literary workshops and courses, including for Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Evangelical Church in Germany. Since 2022 he has been chairman of the Saxon Literature Council (Sächsischer Literaturrat) and a founding member of PEN Berlin.
